The new year starts with a celebration of new music, featuring world premieres of works written on commission from the MWE by celebrated composers Augusta Read Thomas and Quinn Mason and Meadows composers Max Whittaker and Ethan Gurwitz. The concert closes with Russell Peck’s inspiring and cinematic concerto for tenor saxophone, The Upward Stream.

The Meadows Wind Ensemble is thrilled to announce an electrifying and innovative 2022-2023 concert season, Escape Velocity — six concerts of unstoppable energy that push the boundaries of the modern wind ensemble and chamber orchestra. Over the course of the season, works by historic visionaries and contemporary voices will be featured alongside world premieres by creative young composers as well as performances by dynamic concerto soloists.
