Missy Mazzoli’s Vespers for a New Dark Age (2014) will be performed by members of the Dallas contemporary chorale Verdigris Ensemble; the Florida-based contemporary classical group ensembleNEWSRQ, co-founded by Dallas Symphony principal percussionist and Meadows faculty member George Nickson; and Meadows students. Mazzoli’s work reimagines the traditional vespers prayer service, exploring the intersection of the modern technological age with the archaic formality of religious services.
